The Ohio High School Mock Trial Regional Competition held in Franklin County resulted in three advancing teams: Pickerington Central Tigers, Westerville North Orwell, and Westerville North Concord. All three teams will move on to the State Competition slated for March 6-8 at the Franklin County Courthouse and the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
Ohio High School Mock Trial, a program of the Ohio Center for Law Related Education, offers an innovative approach to learning about law and how our legal system functions. Guided by teachers and volunteer legal advisors, students participate in an original, unscripted simulated trial written by attorneys. High school students argue both sides of the case in real courtrooms across the state. Students advance from district and regional competitions to the state finals where the winner progress to the national competition.
Columbus Bar volunteers donate many hours to coordinate the district and regional competitions and to serve as judges for both events. Interested in helping out next year? Contact Donna Sweet at email@example.com.
