W. Breck Weigel Receives 2022 John and Ginny Elam Pro Bono Award

Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio (PBPO) is pleased to share that founding Board member and former Board President, W. Breck Weigel, Partner at Squire Patton Boggs, has been named recipient of the 2022 John and Ginny Elam Pro Bono Award.

Given to one attorney each year who donates their time and talent to pro bono causes, The John and Ginny Elam Pro Bono Award was established by Ginny Elam in honor of her husband, John C. Elam, a Columbus attorney who was tirelessly committed to pro bono work for the poor and disadvantaged.

As winner of the Award, Weigel selected PBPO as recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Columbus Bar Foundation.

“I am very honored to have been selected as the recipient of the 2022 John and Ginny Elam Pro Bono Award. One of my proudest accomplishments over the course of my career has been my work for PBPO, helping to bring vital pro bono business legal services to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations throughout Southwest Ohio with the support of our region’s most talented attorney volunteers,” stated Weigel. “The hard work and support of our staff and the companies and law firms who have been by our side from Day One has been critical and inspiring. I could not think of any better organization than PBPO to support with a gift from the Columbus Bar Foundation in honor of my former partner and role model to so many, John C. Elam.”

The Award will be presented at a ceremony in collaboration with the Ohio State Bar Foundation on October 7.
