Federal Court Practice Group

Mission

To provide a forum for Columbus Bar members to learn more about our U.S. District Court practice and procedures. To provide an opportunity for a direct dialogue with a number of the magistrate judges and judges of the Southern District of Ohio on topics of interest and concern to the federal practitioner. To build on the momentum begun in 1996-97 and continue to increase participation and involvement of Columbus Bar members in the Federal Court Practice Group.

A Message from the Practice Group Chair

Very excited to head the Federal Court Practice Group for 2024-25. I sincerely appreciate the time that CBA Members make in their busy lives and careers to support our local Bar Association, and I want to make sure that the members of the Practice Group are rewarded for their time with useful and timely training, as well as collegiality and access to the acumen of fellow practitioners. My goals for this year are to provide Federal Court Practice Group members with multiple opportunities for CLEs on interesting and relevant federal practice related topics, to present speakers who are steeped in federal practice and can offer real insights into the practice of law in federal court, and to get to know the other members of the Practice Group and have fun while we’re doing all of the above. I look forward meeting everyone and having a great term as Federal Court Practice Group Chair.
